Anna Phoebe

Violinist and composer Anna Phoebe has been thrilling audiences all over the world with her stunning live performances. Dazzling and charismatic, she’s played major arenas all over the United States, London venues including the Royal Albert Hall and the Royal Festival Hall, and festivals across the UK and the rest of the world such as Glastonbury, Fuji Rock and Sonar Festival.
Anna has toured the world as a soloist and with artists and bands including Jon Lord, Jethro Tull, Roxy Music, Oi Va Voi, and the Trans Siberian Orchestra. Since releasing her first EP 'Gypsy' in 2006 and her album 'Rise of The Warrior' in 2008, she has continued to tour worldwide and develop her sound both live and in the studio.
Most recently Anna has completed a new project together with guitarist Nicolas Rizzi, recorded with her own band based in London. 'Between The Shadow & The Soul' (to be released in April 2014), is an exotic collaboration of classical and Eastern influences with a unique rock edge. This album weaves Anna's violin with the diverse musical and cultural backgrounds of the band members, as well as the inspiration drawn from her extensive travels. Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull, a featured guest on the album, describes it as "soaring elegantly aloft with Eastern and Western-influenced melodies to conjure all things mysterious for the lifting of all souls.....intelligent improvisation and sweeping, emotional cadences and sonic qualities...."
A taster EP, 'Embrace', will be released in November 2013, giving an early opportunity to sample this genuinely exciting fusion. Musicians for this project are from London heavy/experimental band Jurojin, and feature Nicolas Rizzi (guitar), Yves Fernandez (bass), Simran Ghalley (tabla) and Francesco Lucidi (drums). Their live performances are not to be missed.
The EP and album are mixed and mastered by Drew Mazurek in Baltimore, USA.
Anna is currently a finalist in the Best Composer Category at this year's Underwire Film Festival for her original score for 'Harriet & The Matches', directed by Miranda Howard-Williams. Her film composing work ranges from avant garde contemporary classical pieces to electronic soundscapes weaving vocals and strings. Anna also continues to work on other projects, including her long standing collaboration with flamenco guitarist Byron Johnston.
